De interuniversitaire cursus Caribistiek bestaat uit een twaalftal bijeenkomst met colleges en gastlezingen uit het universitaire onderzoek naar culturele, historische, sociale en politieke aspecten van de Cariben. De collegereeks volgt ruwweg in chronologische volgorde de geschiedenis van kolonisatie en postkoloniale verhoudingen. Er is bijzondere aandacht voor de landen en gebieden die een historische band met Nederland hebben, daarnaast zullen ook andere delen van het Caribisch gebied worden belicht. De cursus vormt zodoende een inleiding op de Caribistiek en een kennismaking met onderzoekers en erfgoedprofessionals die actief zijn in dit veld. De cursus wordt deels in het Nederlands en deels in het Engels gegeven.

In 2025 the KITLV/Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies will organize a classical version of the Interuniversity Course Caribbean Studies.
De cursus wordt deels in het Nederlands en deels in het Engels gegeven. Participation is open to students from all universities and non-students. The registration fee for non-students is € 125.00 a and for students (not University of Leiden) is the fee € 35.00.
Venue and time
The Caribbean Studies course will take place during the period 5 February – 21 May, 2025. Classes are held on Wednesday afternoons from 1.15 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. CET (see schedule).

The course Introduction to Caribbean Studies will be offered as an intensive course of 12 weeks from the between 5 February and 21 May 2025. Examination (tba).

The reduced registration fee for students is € 35.00, which includes access to Leiden University Library. For students currently enrolled in a Caribbean University, the course is free. Participation of non-students is limited; the registration fee is € 125.00. Please note that registration is complete only after submitting your registration form and the receipt of payment of your registration fee.
