In June, Rose-Mary Allen of the University of Curacao, Urwin Vyent of NiNsee, Matthias van Rossum of IISG and Esther Captain of KITLV received a large subsidy from the Dutch Ministry of Home Affairs for a new project on the role of the Dutch state and society, and its predecessors, in the history of slavery in the Atlantic and Asia, and the ongoing impact of this past in the present.

Together with a large team of experts, they will synthesise existing views and knowledge and formulate a substantiated agenda for future research. The results will be presented in mid to end 2023. The administration (‘penvoerderschap’) of the project will be in the hands of KITLV.
