Framing Asia | Filmscreening on transgender issues in Indonesia | Leiden Asia Year

We are very pleased to invite you to the first edition of our filmscreening series Framing Asia. On the 7th of February at 19.30h, you are welcome to join us at Lipsius 0.28 for our first meeting on Transgender issues in Indonesia.

We will screen three films: Renita, Renita by Tony Trimarsanto, Across Gender by Anouk Houtman and Waria Streets by Tamara Shogaolu. Intan Paramaditha will join our discussion with two of the filmmakers: Anouk Houtman and Tamara Shogaolu. Intan is an Indonesian author and lecturer in media and film studies at Macquarie University, Sydney. Her research explores the relation between media, cultural activism, and sexual politics in the convergence and tension between national and cosmopolitan trajectories. Intan, Tamara and Anouk will discuss the position of transgenders in Indonesia.
