On Tuesday, KITLV-researcher Bart Luttikhuis was a guest during the NOS live broadcast of the commemoration ceremony for the National Commemoration 15 August 1945. On 15 August 1945, Japan surrendered, thus officially ending the Second World War in Asia. This event, and those who suffered under the Japanese occupation, are commemorated yearly at the Indisch monument in the Hague.
