The board of the KNAW has appointed Martijn Eickhoff as director of NIOD as of 1 September 2021, taking up the position of Frank van Vree who will be retiring. Eickhoff is the coordinator of the KITLV-based project group ‘Regional studies’ in the KITLV-NIMH-NIOD research programme ‘Independence, decolonization, violence and war in Indonesia, 1945-1950’.
